Miss L closed the door with a thump so big it knocked Lizzie the elephant, who was the class mascot and a soft and puffy stuffed animal, into the teal basket. Feeling startled, Lizzie wriggled and jiggled and squirmed until the basket fell to the floor. She bounced onto the carpet, raised her trunk and exclaimed, “Kaleidoscopic Kiddoes!” and with an explosion she was alive!
It felt good to be alive, but she wanted some friends to share her adventure with. Lizzie looked at the door, wondering, and then she nodded her head. With another bang, the Gruffalo, Trigger and Hedwig woke up too.
“Let’s have a party!” Lizzie said.
The toys danced and partied and had fun. But, in their excitement, the Gruffalo danced too wildly and they knocked everything off Miss L’s desk, making a huge CRASH!
All of a sudden, the door handle started to turn and in walked Mr Edwards…
Lizzie and her friends froze. Mr Edwards rubbed his eyes, feeling worried. He thought he might be dreaming. But then, the Gruffalo couldn’t stay still any longer and he coughed. With big eyes, Mr Edwards leaned forward and saw that the toys were alive.
“Are you really real?” he wondered, even though he already knew that they were.
The next day, Mr Edwards told Miss L what he had discovered, but she didn’t believe him. Until, later that day, she heard a little voice say hello…
